Title of the paper :
Western Imperialism in Barabara Kingsolvers novel The Poisonwood Bible
Abstract:
Contemporary American Novel by Barbara Kingslover The Poisonwood Bible 1998 shows the exclusion of women remains a major debate in the writings of contemporary American women. Kingsolver blends the story of Orleanas marginalization and muteness with the story of the Belgian colonization of the Congo and the involvement of US imperialism. This article, in The Poisonwood Bible 1998, presents a particularly interesting case in which Barbara Kingsolver intertwines the voicelessness of contemporary American women with colonial rule and the powerlessness of African states. Using a critical lens, Kingsolver portrays and responds to this double layered marginalization and lack of voice of women and colonized nations. The paper also shows how Kingslover is creating new ideas to raise the voices of voiceless women and colonized African countries of imperialist culture.
