Blockchain Technologys Recent Developments in Finance: A Content Analysis
Abstract:
The effectiveness of blockchain technology without the need for middlemen has sped up its adoption as an information system technology. As more industries adopt blockchain technology, internet-enabled distributed databases across supply chains, energy consumption, education, healthcare, and finance are becoming feasible. There arent many exploratory studies that demonstrate the development of this topic. Its critical to understand the current state of blockchain technology in the financial sector and how blockchain architectures might improve industry competition. To discover several possible features of blockchain research in the financial sector, this systematic literature study examines the fifty most pertinent papers and professional industry reports from 2008 to 2022 in the pertinent academic literature in finance. The several facets of blockchain technology, its uses in the financial industry, its benefits over rival systems, the situation of the market at the moment, and the numerous obstacles preventing the broad adoption of blockchain-based financial information systems were all emphasized in this study. We determined that for blockchain technology to upend the financial industry, three areas need further investigation.
