Title of the paper : The Survival of Bayen against The Emotional and Physical Devastation A Study of Mahasweta Devis Bayen

Abstract: Mahasweta Devi carved a distinct space for her literary works. The people in her stories were the working class people, the lowest of the low castes, the abandoned women and the exploited tribals. She wrote of her source of inspiration I always believed that the history is made by ordinary people. The reason and inspiration for my writing are those people who are exploited and yet do not accept defeat P.24. Much of her writings in the late seventies focussed on the tribal people and the untouchable castes and also with the agrarian movement of the late sixties. The article focussing on the main character of the play, Bayen Chandidasi, a caretaker of the cemeteries, assumed duty with pride after her fathers era. The society with inhuman note of actions waited for her to destroy her peaceful life by showering affection on the daughter of her deceased sister in law. When she took the childs body and buried it in the cemetery, the anger and envy of the society led her to isolation and labelled as Bayen.
