Title of the paper :
Portrayed Domestic Violence in Colleen Hoovers Its Ends With Us
Abstract:
The intricacies of domestic violence are powerfully explored in Colleen Hoovers works, especially It Ends with Us. Hoover explores the psychological and emotional toll that violent relationships may take on their victims through her characters. Lily Bloom, the main character of It Ends with Us, has a relationship with Ryle Kincaid, whose affectionate manner eventually turns into aggressive and controlling conduct. Hoover deftly illustrates the cycle of abuse, highlighting the conflicting feelings that victims frequently feel, including love, fear, guilt, and hope for change. The book highlights how difficult it is to leave an abusive relationship, particularly when the abuser shows regret or apologies, which feeds a vicious cycle that is impossible to escape. Hoovers work sheds light on the societal stigma around domestic violence, the emotional manipulation involved, and the devastating impact on both the victims and their loved ones. Through these narratives, Hoover aims to raise awareness, promote empathy, and foster discussions around the importance of breaking the silence on domestic violence.
