Portayal of Women Submissiveness and Power in Sefi Attas Everything Good Will Come
Abstract:
This paper aims to explore how Sefi Atta portrays the images of women and their submissiveness and how the Nigerian people lead a submissive life during political unrest and how they subvert submissiveness. The conflict between submissiveness and power is highlighted in the novels complex and multidimensional depiction of womens lives. The limits of womens power and submissiveness are questioned and challenged by Attas female characters in this novel. The novels strong indictment of patriarchal society ultimately highlights the importance of giving womens experiences and points of view more respect. In the end how the power shows is in the form of empowerment that they are free from traditional norms and how it becomes a powerful voice for womens rights.
