Title of the paper :
The Moral Landscape Wilderness Literature and the Decentering of Humanity
Abstract:
This paper explores the ethical divide between anthropocentrism and non anthropocentrism and the role of Wilderness Literature in this landscape. Anthropocentrism has historically shaped environmental policy and cultural narratives, positioning nature primarily as a resource for human use. In contrast, non anthropocentric perspectives, including sentientism, biocentrism, and ecocentrism, argue for the intrinsic worth of animals, plants, ecosystems and the Earth as a whole. The paper examines these contrasting worldviews, their implications for environmental ethics and how they influence literature on conservation, climate justice and ecological responsibility.
