Title of the paper :
Tides of Change: Exploring Climate Migration in Amitav Ghoshs The Hungry Tide and Gun Island
Abstract:
Amitav Ghoshs recent fiction increasingly examines how human lives are intertwined with ecological forces, especially as environmental instability accelerates worldwide. His novels pose urgent questions about how climate change reshapes cultural memory, historical experience, and everyday life. Among his works, The Hungry Tide 2004 and Gun Island 2019 are especially notable for placing environmental crisis at the heart of narrative fiction. Though written fifteen years apart, the two novels probe the assumptions underlying modernity, unsettle ideas of human dominance over nature, and show how environmental upheaval influences politics, belief systems, and migration. Read together, they illustrate Ghoshs broader ambition to craft literary forms capable of making the Anthropocene perceptible in storytelling.
