Title of the paper :
Feminist Stylistic Analysis of Kamala Das selected Poems
Abstract:
This research paper has been drafted to focus on the feminist approach of Kamala Das with the stylistic approach to her selected poems, An Introduction, Loud Poster, I Shall Some Day, Vrindavan, and My Grandmothers House. Drawing on Sara Millss feminist stylistics 1995, the study examines lexical, syntactic, semantic, and phonological features to reveal how Das uses language to challenge the Indian mindset in twentieth century Indian culture and traditions. Her direct approach, confessional diction, fragmented syntax, use of collocations and evocative imagery foreground female subjectivity and repossess female sexuality from male control. Her first person narration emphasizes female I. Das transforms personal experiences in her poems to emphsis her feminism. Her linguistic choices such as free verse rhythms and openly used vocabulary which expose gendered power and expresses males lust. The analysis concludes that Kamala Das poetic language operates as both an aesthetic and political tool, establishing her as a radical feminist voice in post-independence Indian English literature.
