Title of the paper :
Between Literature and Life: Spiritual Humanism in Ruskin Bonds Lifes Magic Moments
Abstract:
Ruskin Bonds Lifes Magic Moments captures the extraordinary beauty hidden within the fabric of the ordinary. Through his delicate vignettes, Bond invites readers to slow down and rediscover the holiness of simple existence. Whether he describes a blooming plant by his window, the warmth of a sunlit room, the quiet companionship of a pet, or the vast stillness of the hills, his prose reveals an intimate spirituality rooted in observation and affection. This paper explores the idea of the everyday mystic, focusing on how Bonds writing transforms routine experiences into meditations on grace and belonging. By examining selected essays from Lifes Magic Moments, this study demonstrates how Bond cultivates a form of spiritual humanism a faith grounded not in organized religion but in empathy, mindfulness, and ethical awareness. His vision encourages readers to notice the fragile, often overlooked details of daily life, discovering in them a sense of unity and transcendence. The paper also investigates how literature becomes, for Bond, both a mirror of life and a means to heal and harmonize the human spirit. Ultimately, this study situates Bonds prose within contemporary discussions on secular spirituality in Indian English writing, showing how narrative, place, and sensory perception combine to evoke quiet yet profound forms of spiritual experience.
