Title of the paper :
Contemporary Literature Addresses Issues of Race, Gender, Sexuality, and Social Inequality
Abstract:
This research paper explores how contemporary literature serves as a powerful vehicle for addressing and challenging issues of race, gender, sexuality, and social inequality. By analyzing the works of diverse writers including Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Toni Morrison, Ocean Wong, and others, this study demonstrates how modern literary voices have changed the landscape of social discourse. The research paper explores key themes such as intersectionality, identity formation, systemic oppression, and resistance through narrative. By examining novels, poems, and essays published from 1990 to the present, this research reveals how contemporary authors use literary techniques to amplify marginalized voices, challenge dominant narratives, and foster empathy and understanding across cultural divides. The findings suggest that contemporary literature not only reflects social inequalities, but also actively participates in dismantling them by providing platforms for previously silenced perspectives and creating spaces for critical dialogue about justice and human dignity.
