Title of the paper :
A Case Study Approach to Understanding Ecotourisms Effects on Forest Ecosystems and Wildlife Conservation
Abstract:
Ecotourism has emerged as a sustainable approach that integrates tourism development with environmental conservation. This study investigates the impacts of ecotourism on forest ecosystems and wildlife preservation through a case study of Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, Kerala. Employing a mixed methods approach comprising field observation, interviews with local communities and ecotourism operators, and analysis of secondary data, the research evaluates both ecological and socio economic outcomes of ecotourism activities. Findings reveal that well managed ecotourism contributes significantly to forest conservation and wildlife protection while providing alternative livelihoods for local communities and fostering environmental awareness among tourists. However, challenges such as habitat disturbance, littering, and seasonal overcrowding remain, highlighting the need for stricter management and policy interventions. The study concludes with recommendations for sustainable ecotourism practices that maximize conservation outcomes.
