Transcultural Linguistic Pathways: A Comprehensive Study of Spanish Language Acquisition among Marathi-Speaking Learners in Mumbai
Abstract:
Being polyglot is an important asset in todays global village. Acquisition of any new language is skill enhancement. Spanish is third most spoken language in the world. Mumbai, the economic capital of India, is a boon for career advancement if any additional language is acquired. This paper explores challenges encountered by Marathi speaking people in Mumbai, where Spanish is also welcomed with wide arms. The focus of the present research is Spanish language learners from Mumbai, whose mother tongue is Marathi language. Many learners who aspire to learn a foreign language give preference to Spanish considering the wide range of opportunities. However, they face difficulties while grasping certain aspects of this language such as conjugations, pronunciations. This paper is an effort to understand the difficulties faced by the learners and the possible solutions along with outcomes for an easy approach towards learning the language.
