Title of the paper :
Travel Memoir Films as Tools for Cognitive Activation and Language Development in ESL Learners
Abstract:
This study seeks to explore the way travel memoir films, including Eat Pray Love, Into the Wild, and Tracks, promote cognitive engagement and language acquisition among ESL students. These films, showing human journeys in the context of other cultures and real language use, add a lot of rich contexts. A quantitative survey technique was used to measure student awareness of the genre and perception of how valuable it was to vocabulary acquisition, listening comprehension, and narrative expression. The intervention was done through viewing selected film excerpts and structured survey questions to assess the students awareness and perceived value of the educational material. The study explores the extent of whether travel memoir films support selfefficacy in speaking and listening skills, enabling the use of a learner centered pedagogical resource as source based informative and engaging material. This approach promotes integrated language development and continuity of learner’s interest, thereby illuminating the potential for authentic narrative media to promote energetic ESL classroom experiences.
