FROM CULTURAL TO DIGITAL LITERACIES: CIVIC ENGAGEMENT IN CONTEMPORARY WOMENS WRITING
Abstract:
Literacy has undergone significant transformation are there in the contemporary era, moving it beyond traditional associations with reading and writing encompass a wide spectrum from cultural, ecological, technological and digital competences. This expanded help to understand literacy of profound implications for civic engagement is particularly used in the works of contemporary women writers writings. Womens writings that are negotiated shift from culture to digital literacy are tools of civic engagement in a rapidly globalising and technologised world. It is argued here that contemporary womens literature reflects and reverberates a changing mode of literacy which helps to actively reshape civic consciousness by fostering ethical responsibility, collective action and democratic participation. Digital culture has facilitated a totally new type of multi modal storytelling wherein the assemblage of text, sounds, images and video allows for richer and more inclusive narration. By using this evolution from cultural to digital literacies, it highlights the enduring power of literature to shape civic imagination and inspire collective action in an increasingly complex and interconnected worlds.
