Title of the paper :
Green Practices and Sustainability Performance of MSMEs
Abstract:
Purpose This study examines the extent to which the adoption of green practices influences the sustainability performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises MSMEs, with particular emphasis on environmental, economic, and social outcomes. Methodology The paper adopts a systematic review approach, synthesizing empirical research published between 2016 and 2025. The review evaluates evidence on key green practices, including green innovation, environmental management systems, waste minimization, renewable energy use, and sustainable supply chain practices. Findings The analysis reveals that green practices significantly enhance MSME sustainability performance by improving environmental efficiency, operational performance, and market competitiveness. Internal capabilities and external pressures, such as government policies and stakeholder expectations, play a mediating role, while resource constraints, skill gaps, and regulatory complexity remain major barriers. Implications The findings underscore the need for integrated managerial strategies and supportive policy frameworks to scale green adoption among MSMEs. Originality The study provides a comprehensive synthesis linking green practices to multidimensional sustainability outcomes in MSMEs.
