Title of the paper :
Financial Literacy and Womens Economic Empowerment in India
Abstract:
The relationship between financial literacy and womens economic empowerment has gained considerable attention, particularly in developing countries. Financial literacy empowers women by strengthening their decision making abilities and enabling them to manage personal and business finances more effectively. Economic empowerment plays a significant role in improving financial well being, autonomy, and participation in economic activities. Access to financial education equips women with essential knowledge of financial concepts such as saving, investment, budgeting, and financial planning, which directly enhances their economic stability. Moreover, financial literacy contributes to reducing gender disparities in financial access and inclusion, thereby promoting equitable economic participation. Factors such as educational opportunities, social norms, institutional support, and government policies significantly influence financial literacy levels among women. Promoting financial awareness, particularly among women in rural and marginalized communities, not only improves individual livelihoods but also contributes to broader socioeconomic growth and sustainable development. Various initiatives and programs aimed at enhancing financial literacy play a vital role in advancing womens empowerment and economic development. This paper explores how financial education enhances womens decision making abilities, examines its benefits, and analyses its contribution to economic stability and financial wellbeing, with a particular focus on womens economic empowerment in developing countries. The study offers new insights into the relationship between financial literacy and womens economic empowerment and provides practical recommendations for policy interventions to improve womens access to financial education. It emphasizes the role of financial literacy in reducing gender disparities in financial inclusion and presents a conceptual model linking financial literacy, womens empowerment, and economic development.
