A Study of Challenges to Sustainable Practices in Supply Chain Management in India
Abstract:
Sustainable supply chain management SSCM has become the significant concept for every industry in managing their supply chain system by focusing on three aspects economics, social, and environmental. It increasingly identified as an essential component for achieving environmental, economic and social sustainability within organization. Even though the implementation of SSCM will help the industry increase the efficiency of supply chain management, some challenges make the firms cannot implement the SSCM concept well. The challenges of SSCM implementation need to be identified and managed. This study examines the key obstacles hampering the implementation of sustainable practices in supply chain management SCM across Indian industries. Despite growing global importance on environmental and social sustainability, Indian firms face structural, financial, technological, regulatory, and market related challenges that hamper effective execution of sustainable supply chain strategies. The research amalgams existing literature and case studies to identify major obstacles and suggests areas for policy and managerial interventions.
