Title of the paper :
The Lifeline of Care in Lisa Genovas Every Note Played
Abstract:
The Hallmark of every human action related to emotions is the act of taking care of an unwell person particularly in specific circumstances. Literature serves as a source for showcasing such conditions through art, culture, and real life situations. This paper aims to investigate how self motivation and empathy act as tools in the novel Every Note Played by Lisa Genova, correlating with the life of Richard Evans as an ALS Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis patient. Drawing upon Daniel Golemans theory of Emotional Intelligence, this article The Lifeline of Care highlights, how the research emphasizes the complexities of relationships strained by illness and the importance of understanding the patients past. This also demonstrates Genovas writing style in illuminating the lesser known perspectives of patients during illness and while receiving care. Finally, this paper attempts to examine how self motivation and empathy assist patients in their lives and how readers experience patients emotions as motivation to support them in real life.
