Title of the paper :
German Language Acquisition: Challenges and Solutions for Vernacular Learners
Abstract:
Acquiring any foreign language enhances neuro cognitive ability of the learner. In the present digital scenario, being polyglot is an asset. In India, with introduction of New Education Policy, language acquisition has got relevance and significance. This paper explores the challenges faced by vernacular medium learners in India while acquiring German as a foreign language. This research highlights several barriers that hinder effective acquisition of language. From limited exposure to German outside the classroom to gaps in teacher training, there are multiple barriers which lead to reliance on rote grammar methods which often pose challenges for native Indian learners, reducing communicative practice. Motivation is often externally imposed by institutions rather than genuine interest. Mother tongue influence, resource inequality, and cultural distance further limit the language accessibility. The paper advocates bilingual resources, multimedia tools, teacher training, and assessment reform as solutions for inclusive German learning.
