Title of the paper :
Artificial Intelligence in teaching FLE: Opportunities and Challenges
Abstract:
The integration of artificial intelligence and digital tools in the classes of French as a Foreign Language FLE has brought about a significant evolution in education which offers opportunities and challenges. At the age of technology and AI, the necessary competencies and new pedagogical approaches have become truly indispensable for educators. The new student centric pedagogies are further enhanced by personalising teaching learning of FLE, developing accessibility and designing outcome based lessons to meet the demands of the 21st century. A January 2026 quantitative survey carried out on FLE educators revealed the frequency of AI use, motivational factors, familiarity with AI technologies, benefits, challenges, and future concerns. The risk of unethical uses of AI and the demotion in critical thinking among learners of FLE are also perceived. The findings have established significant insights for educators, and language learners, thereby emphasizing the importance of the balanced AI integration in French language education.
