Title of the paper :
Exploring Social ecology through the Selected Works of Gisèle Pineau and Maryse Condé
Abstract:
Contemporary crisis such as social, ecological, and identity crisis, take on a particular dimension geographical spaces are often marked by marginalization, the legacy of colonization, migration, and social exclusion. This research therefore aims to analyze how Un papillon dans la cité, La vie privée d’oubli, En attendant la montée des eaux et LÉvangile du Nouveau Monde build a social ecology of suffering, through geographical differences marked by exile, marginalization, and the colonial legacy, while also examining the real or illusory conditions for a new beginning. By combining social ecology, literary geography, and postcolonial studies, this study aims to demonstrate that the ecological crisis in these novels is primarily a human and social crisis, deeply rooted in history and lived spaces. This study contributes to the renewal of Francophone literary studies by offering an interdisciplinary reading that intersects social ecology, postcolonialism, and geography. It seeks to demonstrate that literature is not only a space for representing crisis, but also a space for critical reflection on the often fragile conditions for a new beginning in a world marked by social and environmental instability.
