Abstract: Indias journey from Digital India to Viksit Bharat 2047 envisions leveraging technology as a catalyst for inclusive socio economic growth, particularly in transforming traditional agricultural sectors. This paper examines the potential of digital technologies to address structural inefficiencies in Indias medicinal plant sector, focusing on Gloriosa superba flame lily cultivation in Tamil Nadu. As the state flower and a critical source of the pharmaceutical alkaloid colchicine, Gloriosa superba represents a high-value crop with significant potential for enhancing smallholder farmer incomes. However, despite projected global market growth of 7 to 11 per cent CAGR through 2035, farmers face extreme price volatility, opaque price discovery, concentrated buyer power, and exclusion from value-added processing.
