Title of the paper : Dalit Feminism: An Interrogation of Mainstream Eurocentric Feminism

Abstract: This paper would try to examine Dalit feminism as a critical intervention that interrogates the claims of mainstream Eurocentric feminism. While Eurocentric frameworks have historically prioritized gender as a primary tool of oppression, they have often overlooked or neglected the issues arising from intersections of caste, class, and colonial histories which have palpably shaped womens lived experiences in South Asia. Dalit feminism disrupts the Eurocentric narrative by focusing on the voices, experiences, and epistemologies of Dalit women, thus pointing out the limitations of a homogenized concept of feminism. This paper would highlight how caste based oppression operates alongside patriarchy, making Dalit women doubly marginalized and hence demanding a more nuanced and context specific feminist praxis. The paper would argue for a decolonial feminist approach that acknowledges marginalization and resists the dominance of Eurocentric theoretical paradigms in feminist discourse.
