Title of the paper : BRIDGING MARGINS: DECONSTRUCTING GENDER STEREOTYPING IN SELECT SHORT STORIES OF TEMSULA AO AND NINI LUNGALANG

Abstract: Rendering voices of repulsion against strict socio cultural construct of gender spheres, the writers Temsula Ao and Nini Lungalang through their short stories register their feminists concerns towards women lock away to the margins of gender stereotyping specificities at all realms of being. Bridging the gender gap where women are doubly removed from the centre is a concern of preeminence for both the writers. The writers approach to gainsaying Gender Stereotyping finds fine similitude and dissimilitude. Similitude in their gendered concerns but dissimilitude in the propensity of their technique in that while Temsula Ao explicitly portrays her challenge to gender stereotyping, Nini Lungalang is transeunt in her approach. This paper delves into close textual reading to churn out how the writers deconstruct traditional moors of pigeonholing gender in the context of Nagaland.
