Title of the paper :
A Study on Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) Among Listeners in Tamil Nadu: Issues and Challenges
Abstract:
Public radio broadcasting in India, which began through private entities in 1927, has been operating under the name Akashvani since 1957. In todays rapidly digitizing world, a new broadcasting technology known as Digital Radio Mondiale DRM has emerged. DRM is an advanced digital radio broadcasting technology designed to enhance the quality and performance of traditional AM and FM radio services. Although DRM has been introduced in India through public broadcasting initiatives, its adoption among listeners in Tamil Nadu remains low. Key challenges hindering its widespread use include low public awareness, the scarcity of DRM enabled receivers, the high cost of compatible devices, a lack of technical knowledge, limited Tamil language content, and the rising popularity of FM radio and internet based audio platforms.
