Title of the paper :
Power in Politics and Ideology: Implications for India China Energy Security
Abstract:
Power and ideology are central to understanding the energy policies and geopolitical strategies of India and China. As the worlds two fastest growing economies, both countries require secure and reliable energy supplies to sustain economic development and national security. This paper examines how political power and ideological orientations shape their approaches to energy security and international relations. Chinas centralized political system and state led development model enable it to pursue long term energy strategies through the Belt and Road Initiative BRI, state owned enterprises, and infrastructure diplomacy. In contrast, Indias democratic political system emphasizes energy diversification, strategic partnerships, market reforms, and the Indo Pacific strategy to safeguard its energy interests. The study argues that power politics and ideological differences significantly influence competition and cooperation between the two countries in regions such as the Middle East, Central Asia, Africa, and the Indian Ocean. While competition remains dominant, growing energy demand, climate change, and renewable energy transitions also create opportunities for cooperation. The paper concludes that understanding the relationship between power, ideology, and energy security is essential for analyzing the evolving geopolitical dynamics between India and China in the twenty first century.
