Title of the paper :
The Intersectionality of Caste and Gender of Nayadi Community in Nooru Simhasanangal
Abstract:
Nooru Simhasanagal by Jayamohan explicitly describes the caste based oppression of a community called nayati community. It is a novel published in Malayalam in 2011. My paper titled the intersectionality of caste and gender of Nayati community in Nooru Simhansanagal vehemently looks at the intersectionality of caste, race and gender based prejudices in the society. It shows how the society remains unchanged despite the empowerments happening around us. The work majorly looks upon the atrocities of the Nayati community. It throws light on the marginalisation and insults the tribal community have to undergo despite their social mobility. The segregation based on the caste is visible in all professions including that of doctor, lawyer and a civil service officer. The novel provokes in us vehement thoughts that basically state the reasons for the prejudices happening in the society. The inability of people to acknowledge the tribal community as human beings is strongly criticized in the writings of Jayamohan. This paper will intricately ponder into the alienation suffered by the Nayati community in the society. It shows how indigenous community are ignored from the main stream of the society. The protagonist Satyapalan silently suffers from the inhuman treatments of belonging to a tribal caste. The works remain as a strong predicament of caste degeneration happening in our society.
