The change in Reading Habits and the shift to Digital Reading Devices in the Digital era
Abstract:
Reading is a hobby for many. However, it is not only for pass time it is also for specific purposes. Reading gains insights into various subjects to expand vocabulary, to learn language skills. It also enhances critical thinking and analytical abilities to empathetically understand diverse perspectives. Some resort to reading just for relaxation and to get relieved from stress while some others take to reading for personal growth and motivation. Tremendous changes that have never been envisaged in the past have taken place ever since the revolution in technology. These changes have reformed and transformed the present digital society. In the changing world people look for digital sources of reading materials. The advancement in technology has affected many spheres and has also laid its hands on traditional reading behavior as well. Students spend a lot of time reading from digital platforms. They are more interested in screen based reading rather than physical books. The widespread media attracts the youth. Students choose to access the internet and spend a lot of time searching and browsing. The study proposes to dive into therealities of todays digital era where reading has taken a different shape.
