Title of the paper :
Dissecting the Architecture of Mythemes in One Part Woman
Abstract:
The Research paper targets to examine the pervasive influence of cultural myths and their implications on society. The analysis centers on Perumal Murugans One Part Woman, translated by Aniruddhan Vasudevan. To investigate the structural underpinnings of myth, the paper analyses Murugans depiction of the social and cultural practices particularly, rituals and festivals. Employing the theory of Claude Levi Strauss, the study dissects the recurring patterns and formation of myths and its exercises pertaining to the central characters, Kali and Ponna. By identifying key mythemes related to infertility, social stigma, religious rituals, and individual agency, the evaluation reveals the architecture of the novels thematic concerns and character dynamics. Furthermore, the study incorporates secondary data to highlight the consequences for individuals facing mythically influenced social practices in various regions. Ultimately, the research illuminates how marginalised sections are victimised by culturally constructed myths and their resulting social practices, demonstrating their enduring impact across religions and regions.
