Title of the paper :
Literature in the Digital Age: Challenges and Opportunities
Abstract:
Literature is generally the body of written works such as poetry, prose, drama, novels etc. that have artistic and intelligence value. It reflects human experiences, thoughts, culture, beliefs and emotions. Traditionally literature was created by writing and publishing books, magazines or journals. There were also limited authors, poets and editors in the past. But the concept of literature in the digital age has been changed. Now, in the digital age, anyone can write and share instantly using ebooks, websites, social media or blogs. The writers are also no longer dependant on publishers. Self publishing platforms and blogs have made it possible for anyone to reach a global audience. There are also new forms of literature emerged such as web novels, hypertext stories, fan fiction, interactive fiction etc. Technology has made the literature worldwide accessible. Now, the ebooks, audio books, online libraries, digital archives, open-accesses websites allow people from any part of the world to enjoy literature or works that were once out of their reach. Anyone can also download it at anytime or from anywhere. Though the digital age makes the literature more accessible and democratic for us, it has many drawbacks too. Because, ebooks and PDFs are easy to copy and share. So, there is a plagiarized work or the flood of low quality in creation. Again digital files can be lost, corrupted or become unreadable. But the printed books can survive for centuries.
