Title of the paper :
Existential Dilemma of Women in Namitha Gokhales Novels
Abstract:
Namita Gokhale is one of the most powerful voices in modern Indian literature. She writes about the inner turmoil and changing identities of women who live in both traditional and modern worlds. This study looks at the existential crisis of female protagonists in the novels Paro Dreams of Passion and A Himalayan Love Story to give a modern picture of women dealing with emotional isolation, social confinement, and the need to express themselves in a patriarchal society. Gokhale employs humour in Paro to draw our attention to urban elitism and sexual politics by avoiding the societal norms. She the main character who expresses her dissatisfaction with how the patriarchal society run her life. Gokhale writes about love, remembrance, and being alone in A Himalayan Love Story in a very thoughtful way, and she also builds a spiritual connection to the Himalayan landscape. Using an existential feminist framework, this study looks at Gokhales characters to show the conflicts between personal desire and societal expectations. These conflicts map out the often painful and fragmented way women take such path to embrace authenticity and emotional freedom in a culture that is changing quickly.
