Title of the paper :
A New Historicist Reading of Kurt Vonneguts Cats Cradle
Abstract:
This paper deals with discovering the new historicist elements in the novel Cats Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut. Like most his novels, Cats Cradle also portrays a dystopian world where excess advancement of science leads to destruction of humanity. This paper explores the new historicist features like how history is a set of individual statements that constitutes texts and also about how these statements cannot act as reliable source to articulate past. It begins with exploring how the history is austerely a form of narrative discourse. Finally, the paper draws upon the notion of how contextualizing of history is the quintessential element in this novel.
