Student Politics and Social Activism in Indian Popular Literature: The Representation of Youth Led Political Movements in Your Dreams Are Mine Now
Abstract:
This paper examines the themes of student politics and social activism as depicted in Ravinder Singhs novel Your Dreams Are Mine Now. The story revolves around Arjun and Rupali, two college students who fall in love however, it is not solely a romance. Rupali actively participates in student politics and boldly speaks out against corruption, injustice, and unfair treatment within her college. Her actions show that young people can become brave leaders and create change in society. The novel also highlights the risks and dangers faced by students advocating for change, particularly for young women. Through this narrative, Singh illustrates how college students can become powerful voices for truth and justice. This paper examines how the novel depicts the hopes, struggles, and resilience of todays youth, as well as how literature can mirror real life societal issues and inspire change through the actions of its young characters.
