Title of the paper :
Virtual Intimacy and Social Isolation in the Digital Age: A Medical Humanities Perspectives on Durjoy Dattas Wish I Could Tell You
Abstract:
Digital age has created much impact in the 21st century, which drastically changed human existence. Although the digital age has greatly benefited society, social isolation and emotional detachment have also increased. Durjoy Datta brings this tension by portraying the intense emotional turmoil that takes place over the digital world. Durjoy Datta’s Wish I Could Tell You focuses on the medical humanities, which connect literature, emotion, and health. It also stresses the need to understand the space taken by youngsters in the virtual and social world. This paper critically examines the problems of virtual intimacy and social isolation under the lens of medical humanities. It also portrays the emotional and psychological consequences faced by two youngsters due to their social media interactions and virtual relationship. The novel reinforces the idea that no matter how advanced technology becomes, the human need for connection, compassion, and emotional presence remains deeply rooted and irreplaceable.
