Title of the paper :
Alternative Pedagogy : Sosaku Kobayashi in the Digital Age
Abstract:
Alternative pedagogy refers to teaching and learning practices that move away from conventional methods. Unlike traditional classrooms, where teachers dominate by transmitting information and students are expected to memorize and reproduce it in assessments, alternative approaches emphasize student centered learning. These methods nurture creativity, critical thinking, and personal growth. A significant example is Sosaku Kobayashis educational philosophy, introduced in the 1940s, which encouraged children to learn not only academic subjects but also self confidence, health, love and care through real life experiences. In todays digital age, technology provides new opportunities to apply such unconventional pedagogy. With the rise of communication tools, online platforms, and interactive resources, both teachers and students have greater access to knowledge and can collaborate beyond the classroom. Students can share projects globally, engage in experiential learning, and develop skills suited to the twenty first century. This paper examines Kobayashis methods and explores how they can be adapted through technology in the digital age.
