Title of the paper :
A Thematic Study of Cultural Discourse in Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Abstract:
The research paper has explored Chimamanda Ngozi Adichies Purple Hibiscus concentrating on how the colonial culture and indigenous cultures is depicted in the work. Adichie in Purple Hibiscus explores the Igbo culture where she comes from. Her characters uphold the customs and traditions of their people. Through a critical discourse analysis, the present paper examines the ways in which Adichies narrative conveys the complexities of cultural identity, belonging, and resistance in postcolonial Nigeria. This study discusses that purple hibiscus offers a nuanced and powerful illustration of the theory of hybridity, provides more information on the ways in which cultural identity is negotiated, performed, and transformed in the context of cultural exchange.
