Title of the paper :
LINGUISTIC REALITIES: HOW WORDS SHAPE WHAT WE SEE AND KNOW
Abstract:
Language goes beyond simple communication it is a powerful tool that shapes how we see and interact with the world. This piece looks at the complex and often subtle link between language and thought, drawing on studies from linguistics, cognitive science, psychology, and anthropology. By exploring ideas like linguistic relativity and cognitive framing, we examine how the structure and vocabulary of different languages influence not only how people think but also what they can see or remember. From how native languages express geographical orientation to how cultures categorize color, research shows that language can affect focus, shape memory, and even alter sensory experience. Additionally, the internal dialogue facilitated by language is vital for selfawareness, decisionmaking, and emotional management. The article discusses how linguistic diversity reflects and strengthens cultural values and how changes in language usage can shift collective views over time. While the extent of languages influence on thought remains up for debate, it is clear that words do more than just describe realitythey help shape it. Recognizing the power of language makes us more aware of its role in creating biases, promoting empathy, and defining the boundaries of human understanding. This paper will examine how Linguistic Realities invites readers to consider how language not only reflects our inner world but also shapes it.
