Title of the paper :
OCEANIC NARRATIVES: BLUE STUDIES AND THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE IN AMITAV GHOSHS, THE HUNGRY TIDE AND LIFE OF PI
Abstract:
Nature has always been a part of the creative imagination. Literature frequently challenges traditional views on modernity and development. The emerging field of hydrocritical research, sometimes referred to as blue studies, critical oceanic studies, or the Blue Humanities, has developed with a focus on the epistemological changes within the Earth system and its inhabitants during the Anthropocene. Contemporary writers have portrayed nature as a symbol in their writings, representing change, evolution, and the convergence of land and sea. This chapter analyses Amitav Ghoshs The Hungry Tide and Yann Martels The Life of Pi from an ecological viewpoint, investigating how both texts highlight the conflicts between and within human communities.
